The Golf Club at
Eagle Mountain

Souring with the Eagle
Scottsdale, Arizona

Soar at "The Golf Club at Eagle Mountain." Treat yourself to a great round of golf in a peaceful and tranquil setting, while being catered to by their professional staff. You will feel so welcomed and appreciated that you may not want to leave.

The course is beautifully maintained and the pace of golf is well managed. The course is challenging but not intimating. Its design accommodates players at all levels. One comment made to me by a senior player was the "cart path only" rule. He said that the cart paths were above the fairways and greens, which made the walk to the ball arduous.

I would like to say that I discovered this masterpiece, but its numerous awards placing it among the Top 100 courses and Pro Shops in America mute my boasting. Sam, if you need a fourth, give me a call. I would love to play it again.

"How can one soar with the Eagles?"

I found the answer to this age old question. Go to "The Golf Club at Eagle Mountain". You will see eagles, birdies, and a par-tridge in a pear tree.

It is a par 71 desert course. The markers are gold, green, white and purple. The yardage and slope ratings are 6755 yards (71.7/139), 6191 yards (69.5/129), 5825 (M: 67.2/126; W: 72.7/131) and 5065 (68.2/118), respectively.

I knew from the moment that I pulled my clubs out of the car that I was at a customer-oriented facility. I rarely drop my bag at the "Drop Off" site. I started towards the Pro Shop when an assistant intercepted me in the parking lot and took my bags.

Most assistants are like baggage handlers at the airport. They stand around talking while you carry the bags to them and then they expect a tip. Assuring the young man that I could carry my bag, he smiled and politely said,

"I am sure of that sir but at my club, it's our pleasure."
