According to Chris Henderson, the Academy Director, the use of the latest video technology enhances his nearly two decades of experience in improving a golfer's skill. Loving golf and wanting to imbue his students with this same feeling, he knew that improving his student's skill would facilitate their golfing enjoyment.

Henderson's enthusiasm and youthful attitude belies his extensive experience and practical training. At age 14, he started working at golf courses. A humble start for someone who

  • is a Class "A" Professional,
  • was invited to be the teaching professional at a private club in Switzerland,
  • was a Director for Arnold Palmer Golf Academy,
  • was a teaching professional at the private Lake Nona Club,
  • worked for several Disney Golf Courses,
  • is an Instructional Editor for Golf Tips Magazine.

The key to a good swing is repeatability. The prevalent theory for a repeatable swing is muscle memory and visualization of the swing. Henderson knew that muscle memory was achievable through practice and repetition. Also, he knew that visualization was a mental activity. However, to mentally visualize a swing one had to see their actual swing and how to correct it.

See what you are doing; not what you think you are doing.

Henderson was familiar with the use of camcorders and VCRs producing tapes to show students their swings. Although these tools are excellent, Henderson desired technology that provided immediate feedback to the student, a system that recorded the student's swing, a system that used digital technology to show the student's swing, frame by frame, a system that was computerized and would use the latest communication tools for emails and to utilize the internet.

Henderson found his answer to the next generation of teaching tools for immediate feedback, for faster learning with Swing Solutions Golf Video. This system features the latest digital video and computer technology to analyze the full golf swing and short game including putting.

Back to Basics Golf Academy was formed.

Including Henderson, Back to Basics Golf Academy has three PGA members and three assistant PGA members. The Academy's teaching philosophy is to establish basic positions and repeating basic motions that are the keys to developing a consistent golf swing. All the instructors are trained and certified by Henderson to ensure consistent instruction.
